Do you want the physique Jessica Ennis-Hill had when she won the world championships just a year after giving birth? Do you want that supermodel belly and shape after having had a couple of kids?
As always there’s good news and bad news;
Let’s start with the good news; YOU CAN!
A remarkable athlete.
Here’s the bad news; But only if you were a supermodel before giving birth or are indeed Jessica Ennis-Hill.
See, it’s not that you can’t look great after you’ve given birth to several kids or when you’re in your 40s but it’s important to be realistic. If you don’t look like a supermodel when you’re in your 20s or before you had kids you are very unlikely to be able to look like one when you’re in your 40s or after your second or third c-section.
Look at the professional athlete; genetically gifted, training hard 4-5 hours a day, eating exactly the right foods and getting a lot of rest so the body can recover and then smash it again the next day. Someone who has a whole team of professionals and all the support in the world. Someone whose job it is to be in peak physical condition and to perform at a superhuman level.
Social Media, Instagram and Facebook especially, are making it very difficult for people not to compare themselves to people described above and the fitness industry, lead by supplement selling magazines such as Men’s and Women’s Health, are more than happy to jump on that bandwagon as that’s the BS they’ve been selling you for years and it’s good for circulation.
I can’t even begin..
Noone seems to tell you that it’s NOT POSSIBLE to look like an olympic athlete unless you train, eat and sleep like one. You can not look like a 20 year old fitness model when you’re in your 50s, you have a job or a house to run and 3 kids to look after.
What you can do is look, and feel, amazing for you.
We all have to work with what we’ve got. If you’re in your 40s and looking to start exercising, have a job and a couple of kids you can obviously still look amazing. But you have to be a bit more realistic. If you have 3-4 hours per week to spend training you can get some phenomenal results if your diet is also tidy but you will not end up looking like someone who trains for a living and has done so since the age of 12.
If you have never ever looked like a supermodel it’s unlikely there’s one hidden somewhere in you that’s just dying to get out with a bit of exercise twice a week. This does not mean you can’t get a flat tummy and great looking legs, it just means you’ll never be a Victoria’s Secret model.
Sucks doesn’t it? I feel your pain, I’ll never look like Captain America.
Funny how transformation machines work; shirt has to come off but trousers can stay on.
I guarantee that you can look amazing. You can look toned and tight. You can feel powerful and beautiful. And you can feel and look better than ever with the right training and the right life-style. But you won’t feel good about yourself if you set standards you will simply never be able to meet.
Take care of yourself and be kind to yourself,
